ANGENIEUX HR 7-81mm

Imperial and Metric
Used Angenieux HR 7-81mm for Sale

The Angenieux HR 7-81 mm is a high-quality zoom lens originally designed for Super 16mm production (and adaptable to Super 35) that delivers a broad focal range (7 mm to 81 mm) with strong optical performance, clean image rendering and a telecentric design suited to digital sensors. It features a T-stop of T2.4 at the wide end (7-50 mm) and T3.5 in the longer portion (50-81 mm) when used across its full zoom range. With a ~100 mm front diameter and moderate weight (~4.6–4.8 lbs / ~2.1–2.2 kg), it is compact and robust for its zoom range.

Key Features

7-81 mm focal range: covers wide to medium-telephoto on Super 16, and with extenders can approach Super 35 coverage.
Relatively fast aperture: T2.4 (wide end) maintains good light gathering capability, enabling work in lower-light situations.
Telecentric optical design: ensures rays strike the sensor more perpendicularly, reducing image shift and improving digital-sensor compatibility.
Low chromatic aberration, strong edge-to-edge sharpness and contrast: delivers cinematic image quality with minimal optical compromises.
Compact, durable build: despite the large zoom range, the lens is manageable in size and weight for professional film-production use.
Flexible format adaptability: though built for Super 16, it can be used (with extenders or modifications) for larger sensor formats, giving extra versatility.
