The Leonetti Ultranon lenses are a rare and storied set of vintage cinema primes, originally commissioned by Leonetti Rentals in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Designed by Kenji Suematsu for the proprietary 35mm Ultracam system, only about 15 to 20 sets were ever produced. These lenses are “franken-primes,” expertly blending optics from legendary manufacturers—primarily Contax Zeiss, with specific wide angles sourced from Cooke and Canon FD—all housed in robust, uniform cinema casings.

16-Blade Circular Iris: A signature feature that ensures perfectly round bokeh and silky-smooth out-of-focus highlights even when the lens is stopped down.
Hybrid Vintage Optics: Combines the sharpness and “3D pop” of Zeiss Contax glass with the character of Cooke (18mm) and Canon FD (24mm) for a unique, curated look.
Full Frame Coverage: Except for the 18mm (which is Super 35/Academic), the 24mm through 135mm focal lengths cover Full Frame/Large Format sensors, making them compatible with modern cameras like the Alexa LF or Sony VENICE.
Controllable Flares: Known for producing beautiful, “milky” organic flares that add cinematic texture without overwhelming the image.
Unified Cinema Housing: Unlike standard vintage photo lenses, these feature consistent front diameters (typically 110mm) and geared rings for professional follow-focus systems.
