The ARRI WCU-4 (Wireless Compact Unit) is a rugged, industry-standard 3-axis hand unit designed for high-end lens and camera control. Although now officially part of ARRI’s legacy lineup (succeeded by the Hi-5), it remains one of the most widely used and reliable wireless follow-focus systems in professional cinematography worldwide.

ALEXA Remote Control: With an optional license, users can remotely adjust camera settings (frame rate, shutter angle, EI, etc.) and view status metadata directly on the unit.

Backlit Lens Data Display: A large, 3-inch transflective screen remains clearly visible in direct sunlight and provides real-time lens mapping and distance readouts.

Lens Mapping: Supports pre-marked focus rings; the unit automatically maps the lens scale to the ring, eliminating the need for manual marking during lens swaps.

Adjustable Friction: The focus knob features a tool-less friction adjustment to suit the operator’s personal preference for “stiffness.”

Robust Build: Fully splash-proof and dust-proof aluminum housing, designed to withstand the rigors of extreme production environments.

The WCU-4 is powered by standard Sony NP-FM500H batteries and integrates natively with ARRI cameras (ALEXA Mini, LF, SXT) or via motor controllers (UMC-4, cforce mini RF) for third-party camera systems.
