The GL Optics Mamiya Sekor 645 series represents a professional cinema rehousing of classic medium format optics. Originally designed for the Mamiya 645 system, these vintage lenses are prized for their expansive image circle, which easily covers Full Frame, VistaVision, and ARRI Alexa 65 sensors. By integrating vintage glass into modern, uniform cinema housings, GL Optics provides cinematographers with a “large format” aesthetic characterized by smooth roll-off, natural skin tones, and a gentle vintage character without the mechanical limitations of still photography lenses.
Key Features:
Large Format Coverage: Massive image circles designed for medium format ensure no vignetting on the largest modern cinema sensors.
Vintage Optical Character: Delivers a flattering, organic look with soft highlights and a pleasing bokeh that modern, “clinical” lenses often lack.
Standardized Cinema Housing: All lenses in the set feature consistent 110mm front diameters and unified gear positions for iris and focus, allowing for rapid lens changes without adjusting follow-focus or matte box setups.
Internal Focus Design: The rehousing utilizes an internal focus mechanism, meaning the physical length of the lens remains constant during focus pulls.
Mechanical Precision: Equipped with a 300° focus rotation for highly accurate pulls and a de-clicked, 0.8 MOD geared aperture ring.
PL Mount Versatility: Specifically converted to stainless steel PL mounts for secure, industry-standard attachment to high-end cinema cameras.
Imperial/Metric Markings: High-contrast, easy-to-read focus scales on both sides of the barrel (as seen in the provided images).
cost: TBD sales: $38,000
