The Angénieux Optimo Ultra Compact 28-76mm represents the next generation of high-end, lightweight spherical zoom cinema optics, engineered to succeed the classic academy-awarded Optimo 28-76mm. This premium lens features a completely upgraded optical and mechanical design optimized for modern cinema sensors. Leveraging Angénieux’s innovative Interchangeable Rear Optics (IRO) technology™, the lens can be converted between Ultra 35 (U35) and Full Frame/VistaVision (FF/VV) configurations. When configured for Super 35/U35, it delivers a blazing-fast T2.2 maximum aperture (covering sensors like the ARRI Alexa 35 Open Gate). Swapping to the included Full Frame Back expands the image circle to 46.3mm to flawlessly cover large-format cameras at a fast T2.9 aperture, all while retaining the iconic, organic “Angénieux look,” rich contrast, and perfect color consistency.

Key Features:

Interchangeable Rear Optics (IRO Technology): Seamlessly swap between Super 35/U35 format (34.6mm image circle at T2.2) and Full Frame/VistaVision format (46.3mm image circle at T2.9).
Superb Optical Performance: Delivers exceptional sharpness, resolution, and color homogeneity across the entire frame with beautifully controlled low distortion.
No Ramping or Breathing: Constant lens volume and zero focal-plane shift during zooming ensure uncompromising consistency for high-end tracking shots.
Ultra-Compact & Lightweight: Weighing only ~2.6 kg (5.7 lbs) with a front diameter of 114mm, it is perfectly balanced for handheld, steadicam, gimbal, or remote-head configurations.
Advanced Mechanics & Weathering: Features a rugged rod-mechanical guiding system, precise 310° focus rotation with dual imperial/metric markings, and passive athermalization from -20°C to +45°C.
Lens Metadata Support: Integrated Cooke/i electronic metadata interface transfers critical lens data directly to external recorders or displays.
