Canon EF (Electronic Focus) lenses are a comprehensive line of lenses compatible with Canon’s full-frame and APS-C DSLR cameras (with a crop factor). Introduced in 1987 with the EOS system, they feature an electronic mount for autofocus and aperture control. The EF mount has a 54mm internal diameter and a flange focal distance of 44mm. This design allows for a wide variety of lens designs and has been a cornerstone of professional and enthusiast photography for decades. While Canon has introduced the RF mount for its mirrorless systems, EF lenses can still be used on EOS R cameras with an adapter, preserving their functionality.
